Back home, this is the ideal reference for livestock, including cows, horses, sheep and goats after a summer spent on the Alpe di Siusi returning to their stables.
The transhumance accompanied by a celebration takes place on the Saturday just before the feast of the harvest. This year the event takes place on 1 October 2022. Accompanied by bells and wreaths the animals inhabit the area of Compaccio at 10am. The colourful herd consisting of 250 animals, some carts and some classic-style tractors will leave the Alpe di Siusi at this very time. The transhumance will be accompanied by a feast: a famers' and artisans' market are part of this special event.
