The return from the pasture on Alpe di Siusi
The return from the pasture on the Alpe di Siusi is a joyful moment for everyone. The livestock (cows, horses, goats and sheep) which spends the summer on mountain pastures, is then transferred to the valley floor with a procession.
Shuttle buses
There is a shuttle bus service every 15-30 minutes on the Sciliar Massif. It links Castelrotto, Fié, Siusi and Ortisei with the valley station of the Seiser Alm Cableway.
Törggelen
The word “Törggelen” does not derive from the german verb “torkeln” (to stagger), but from the latin word “torkulum”(grape harvest and wine pressing). This tradition, the oldest in the region, is inextricably linked to the culture of wine. In the typical chalets, you can taste new wine and speck, krapfen and roasted chestnuts.
You can experience the magic atmosphere of a “Törggelen” and have this unforgettable experience in the villages of San Osvaldo, Völserried and Aica di Fié, just a few minutes walk from the campsite.
Amenities
The major and most charming village is Castelrotto. Siusi allo Sciliar is a typical Alto Adige village which lays at the foot of the Sciliar Massif. In Fié allo Sciliar you can enjoy a breathtaking view.

Cities to visit
Bolzano, the provincial capital of Alto Adige, is 20 km from the campsite and it is possible to get there by bus every half an hour. 5000 years ago a man ventured on to the frozen heights of the Val Senales glaciers, where he died. In 1991 his mummified and frozen body was found by chance with his clothes and gear. It was sensational news for archaeologists and it provided a unique snapshot of a man of the brazen age on a journey at high altitude.
After highly specialized researchers examined the body and the gear for years, it is now possible to see them at the Archaeology Museum of Alto Adige.
